So, put simply, I'm a slightly overweight 51 year old who sits down at a desk most of the day so enjoys the opportunity to get outdoors whenever possible.
I enjoy walking and, for the last last ten years, have discovered the joy of running. I will never be fast, win any races or break any records, but I do enjoy the freedom it gives me to enjoy nature, clear my mind, stay healthy and enjoy the company of others.
I decided that I wanted to challenge myself in a new way. As mentioned, I will never win a race and, if I'm honest would rather go out on an adventure that isn't against the clock. I love the trails and roads and so I thought, why not run a half marathon (that's 13.1 miles or 21km) in one go every single week for a whole year?
I mean it makes perfect sense to be running 52 half marathons over 52 weeks in my 52nd year!
Whilst I'm at it, to add additional motivation, accountability and to move it away from a selfish ambition to one that can benefit others, I decided I'd like to support one or two charitable causes along the way.
As I am putting in the effort and commitment, I thought it would be a great opportunity to help raise awareness and some funds for two charities dear to me.

To enable me to split the sponsorship between the two charities, and to make the most from the 25% additional Gift Aid, I have had to create TWO SEPERATE Just Giving Pages, one for each charity.
Help me raise awareness about my challenge, and the charities supported, please share this website with your friends and family.
I post regular progress updates over on my BLOG page.
